Raised in the northern valleys of California, I grew up in the company of cows and orange trees. My grandmother owned and operated a local print shop in Sacramento, and I would often find myself working there during my summers. I always enjoyed playing with the old A.B. Dick printing presses, photocopy machines and binding equipment. In the 80’s and early 90’s though, all I wanted was to be a rockstar.
Years later, around 1996, Heckler Magazine wrote a favorable review of one of my ‘zines titled Frame of Mind. One of the owners, John Baccigaluppi, wrote me a letter suggesting I intern for their magazine. Being a long time fan of the magazine, I was honored by the suggestion. Over the next few years John taught me many things about graphic design, the production of a magazine, and encouraged me to go back to school to get a degree in Graphic Design.
Around 1998 I was hired on as a graphic designer for Heckler Magazine, and by 1999 I became the Senior Designer for both Tape Op and Heckler, the two magazines we published. John became the Art Director, and my staff consisted mainly of interns.
By 2000 I decided to move to New York City with my band and yet again to try my luck at becoming a rockstar. Although career changes have kept me busy and away from my career within the design world until recently, I have remained continuously active with freelance design and personal projects.
HECKLER and TAPE OP: I designed hundreds of pages for both Heckler and Tape Op magazines. Included within this website is just a sample of the many different styles of design I employed.
